In a spirit of responsibility and broad consensus, our Second General Assembly was held on Tuesday, April 21, at the headquarters of the National Union of Mauritanian Employers, with strong participation from key public stakeholders.

The Assembly concluded with the re-election of Mr. Sidi Mohamed Ould Kaam as President for a new term, alongside the formation of a new Executive Bureau and Higher Council, and the election of delegates to the Union’s upcoming General Congress.

Mr. Ould Kaam stated that this new phase builds on a clear foundation:

  • strengthening collective action

  • advancing good governance

  • deepening coordination and engagement with partners

He also underlined the need to sustain efforts to further develop the sector and ensure its voice is heard in national discussions on investment and natural resource management.

Over the past period, and under the umbrella of the National Union of Mauritanian Employers, the Federation has continued to expand its cooperation with key institutions, including the Ministry of Mines and Industry, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, and Maaden Mauritania.

These efforts aim to better structure the sector, support its actors, and promote responsible environmental practices—ensuring a sustainable balance between production and environmental protection.
